Visit at «Il castello delle cerimonie», Italian wedding show

Naples, January 24, 2023
Donna Imma Polese and Matteo Giordano, the hosts of the wedding reality show «Il castello delle cerimonie» produced by realtime welcomed us in their wedding castle close to Naples. The couple has been so friendly and cordially that it was impossible to refuse their invitation for lunch. Luckily we stayed because the food was to die for. The whole setting for the show is a hotel that hosts several hundred events every year, from birthdays to all kinds of celebrations. Donna Imma and Matteo authentically live in this setting, wholehearted represent this special Neapolitan dream world, and spread the idea of a Neapolitan identity far out Napoli. The show is successful not only in Italy but also in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States («My crazy Italian wedding», «Feiern auf Italienisch»). Through this reality programme Neapolitan codes, the a way of living and celebrating, becomes a template for an Italian life style in the mediated world.

The video presents the current state of the research project. It shows mediated weddings in its multifaceted genres like reality shows, feature films, private wedding photos, and royal wedding. This kaleidoscope of mediated weddings highlights not only its diversity but also its stunning similarities in the course over time.

Conversations with married couples


Each wedding story is unique and at the same time similar: Two people decide to stay together and to enter a legally official status. The couples tell me their wedding stories and show their wedding albums. The images link the individual stories with the shared experience and memory of the couple and their guests.
